Impact

1) Social: We have created 16 full time jobs and 30 part time jobs in waste collection, processing and distribution. As we are scaling up, we are creating more dignified jobs for manual scavengers in food waste collection and processing. 2) Economical: Our feeds help farmers to save 10% in feeding costs, saving Rs. 150 in feed costs/cow/ month. Owing to our cattle feed, farmers have witnessed upto 20% increase in milk production, now earn upto Rs. 1800 extra/cow/day Direct feeding of insects have shown decrease in time in gaining average age in broilers hence saving in costs in rearing poultry and fish 3) Environmental: Krimanshi works on circular economy model by cutting down CO2 and GHGs emissions providing for 365-day feed supply (prepared from upcycling the decomposing agro-wastes) to farmers amid a situation where the nation is facing acute food scarcity. For every ton of food waste upcycled, we save 1.9 tons of CO2equivalent from entering into atmosphere. We are now setting up capacity to treat 25 tons of food waste into feeds per day.

Innovation

We are the first context-based company manufacturing feeds. After a feasibility study, we have designed a process adapted to the targeted market and the characteristics of the operating region. The food waste collected from various sources is dehydrated in a controlled environment or using black soldier fly converting it into functional ingredients for animal feed.

Pilots

We also run 2 pilot scale insect rearing units in Vellore and Vijaywada where we transform food waste into insect protein which work as a substitute for fish meal in poultry and fish feeds.
