The model followed till date, either has a high capital expenditure or operational costs, that ultimately results in turning of cold storages into warehouses. There is a need for modular cold storage infrastructure that can fit not only in the storage space, but also in the transportation as well.
Not only agriculture, but other allied industries are also in dire need for such infrastructure build up.
India has a huge coastline, and storage and transportation of fishes is heavily dependent on ice. As of present, customers/users use equal quantity of ice as for fires, which reduces the volume optimisation. Contamination risks also arises when ice is in direct contact with the fishes. Energy efficient cooling solutions are a dire need to negate this need for ice and improve quality as well as reduce operational costs.
